ALA ARCHA NATIONAL PARK HIKE
The valley of Ala-Archa is one of the most picturesque sights of Bishkek surroundings. Here, in the narrow valley of a seemingly ordinary river, you will find a high concentration of wonderful, stunning landscapes, waterfalls and amazing rock formations. Paired with an unexpectedly rich flora and fauna, this region is considered by many to be a symbol of the Kyrgyz ridge (Ala-Too).
The Ala-Archa gorge is located in a central part of the Kyrgyz Ridge, 30 km to the south of Bishkek. With over 35 km length it stands as the largest of all the gorges of the Kyrgyz Ridge. “Ala-Archa” is translated from Kyrgyz, meaning “varicolored juniper”. The gorge got its name from the numerous bushes of juniper covering its slopes. Due to the great diversity of junipers in the gorge and their different colors and shapes, the valley truly deserves its name.
The park is open to people of all levels of fitness. The day will start with a private transfer from Apple Hostel Bishkek to Ala Archa. You’ll then have some free time to hike the region, or with the help of an optional local guide. You’ll then be transferred back to Apple Hostel Bishkek in time for dinner.
